Vela Center Channel

Vela CC 401 Center Channel

A complex design: high-class lacquered and wooden veneered cabinets, which have a trapezoid shape and are angled rearward. The design catches eyes but conduces acoustics, too. The sound of VELA shows it´s family background to successful series 400. But the advantages are distinct. The angling of the cabinet in combination with the new wave-guide of the JET 6 tweeter improves the definition of stereo and multi-channel audio in modern furnishing.

JET 5 Tweeter

Engineered and designed in Kiel, Germany, the JET 5 Air Motion Transformer tweeter offers a wide frequency response (Up to 50kHz), low distortion, and remarkable clarity in reproducing the high-frequency spectrum, contributing to a more immersive and detailed audio experience for listeners.

Downward Firing port

The bass reflex port on the Solano series is designed to exit downward from the bottom of the speaker cabinet, allowing for greater flexibility in speaker placement and reducing ventilation noise.

Aluminum Sandwich Woofer

This specialized construction brings forth a myriad of benefits, starting with its rigidity and lightweight nature. By leveraging the inherent qualities of aluminum, these woofers effectively minimize unwanted resonances and distortions, ensuring a remarkably clear and accurate sound reproduction.

Meet Vela

Built on 95+ Years of Audio Excellence

We have taken our iconic 400 series and reimagined it, bringing a modern contemporary design inspired by the Life of Sound!

A refined design, yet traditionally ELAC: • Crystal membrane woofer with extended frequency range
• Jet 5 tweeter offering wide dynamic range
• Bi-wiring configuration to enhance midrange
• Die cast bottom plate with integrated double flanged down-firing bass reflex port
• Convex baffle shape reducing reflections

Design Goals

What has Changed?

Our goal was to build on the success of the iconic Elac 400 series We wanted to maintain its heritage and sound characteristics with a modern contemporary design yet unmistakably Elac.
Our key objectives were :
• Change the base, make the port tube invisible
• Give some shape and add material to beautify
• Use die cast baskets with diamond cut but remove rectangular metal around driver
• Use improved crystal woofer and Jet 5
• Preserve the traditional look but modernize it

The inimitable JET tweeter

JET 5

ELAC’s JET tweeter is used throughout our loudspeaker range. This high-frequency driver enthralls with its lightning-fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom and a distinctly wider frequency range than conventional dome tweeters. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image.
Designed and manufactured in Kiel, Germany.

JET Technology

ELAC's Air Motion Tweeter

• Air Motion Transformer principle
• Linear Frequency response > 50 kHz
• Extended lower frequency range
• Efficiency 92 dB / W / m

AS-XR Technology

Crystal Membrane

Aluminum Sandwich Membrane with Extended frequency range
The The eye-catching surface of the crystal membrane is more than just an attractive design feature.
• Increased stiffness through crystal shape of aluminum cone
• Extended frequency range (XR), smooth roll-off
• Excellent large signal behaviour
• Minimized VAS, (lot of bass out of small cabinets)
